Spacemen 3

Spiritualized is too pompous for my taste. If I want psychedelic bliss, I turn to Spacemen 3. Their music: post-velvetunderground, Suicide without those synths and yelps, some stunningly beautiful arrangements, a bit of Kraut-driven energy, strange gospel atmospheres, monotonous drones, influences from 60's and 70's psychedia, heady shoegaze before shoegaze, lyrics about, you know, spacing in and out. The perfect prescription (1987) & Playing with fire (1989) - these are records you need to hear.
I would argue that Brightblack morning light is a band that has administered the Spacemen 3 inheritance more successfully than most run-of-the-mill shoegaze bands.
