I've heard it several times now and it depresses me (not that people are saying it, that is important.).
I don't want to "work" in that sense to earn some man's respect.

and the scariest thing is I'm part of it. of course I'm dropping smarmy witticisms all the time that are supposed to earn me the fucking PRIVILEGE and HONOR to be seen as a person that this guy can listen to for two minutes.
